Disc Bulge and Herniation Treatment in Vancouver: Chiropractic and Massage
What is a Disc Bulge?
An intervertebral disc is located in the spine between each vertebrae. A disc bulge is when there are changes to the shape of a disc that can be seen on an MRI. The change in shape can place pressure on the nerve roots, commonly the L4, L5 and S1 nerve roots. Low back pain, buttock pain, and sciatica can be a common symptom of a disc bulge. A disc bulge increases the risk of a disc herniation. Bulging discs can also occur in the neck (cervical spine) and less commonly in the thoracic spine (mid back).
Does massage therapy in Vancouver help with disc bulges?
Yes! Our RMT in Vancouver treats disc bulges too! There are several muscles around the spine that can get tight. The increased tension in the spine causes extra compression on the discs. Your RMT can effectively address this tension with various soft tissue therapy skills!
Can chiropractors in Vancouver help with disc bulge?
Yes! Chiropractors are trained to assess and treat different types of back pain, including disc bulges. We use a combination of treatment styles such as active muscle release, core strengthening, joint mobilizations, and improving posture for long term results.
